Travel advice at Immigration

MP3 track of the day - Whatever: Oasis

Again I woke up early today (not out of choice) and got ready for my flight. It's my first time at Heathrow (I think) and Terminal 5. I tell you what ... what a building. Terminal 5 is fantastic and I think it's up there with Berlin's main train station I visited in my European Trip. I had arrived three hours before my flight, but the time just flew by. Firstly I had some breakfast (Nigel at work will be happy to hear that I had 2x pan-o-chocolate and a hot chocolate for just less than £5.00) and then I watched planes land and take off. Finally my flight was called to board.

The flight was packed; I was sat to a window on my right, and a woman from Oxford (going backpacking in the USA) on my left. We chatted a little but then the on-flight entertainment system came on. During the flight I watched Sherlock Holmes (nothing to write home about), the South American Top Gear challenge (classic) and I read and slept a little. British Airways were fantastic; I had two meals on board (a chicken curry with a raspberry moose and a chicken sandwich meal thing later on) and the cabin crew were very polite and helpful, oh and the landing was very smooth too.

When going through customs I was randomly selected, or so it seemed, to pay a visit to Immigration (lucky me). Waiting in the queue was a chap who had come to Toronto for a friends wedding and it appears he's been stopped at customs quite often (he was telling me of his stories when he visited the American customs ... which was nice!). Soon it was my turn and I went to the customs desk; the lady started off frosty but I think it was a combination of my good looks and charm that, for some reason, got her to give me traveling tips. I mean picture this, you're at customs awaiting your turn, when you see a hansom Brit showing the Canadian custom guards a guidebook, and they are pointing to different places to go ... Canada's ace.

I arrived at my hostel around 5pm (10pm your time) and went to my room. It's not the best hostel I've stayed in, it's a little cramped (I can't sit up straight on my bed) but it's clean and my room mates seem okay. Tomorrow CN Tower ... and it seems the hostel has a discount.
